Item:192720260486This is an illuminated leaf from a Breviary that was produced in France, probably Paris because of the quality of the script and decoration. The text on this leaf would indicate that the Breviary was probably made for use in Burgundy. The text here is for the Office to be said on 28th. January. It includes a Commemorationfor the Second Feast of Saint Agnes followed by the Feast of Saint John of Remome who was born in Dijon. The size of the leaf is 187mm x 125mm (7 3/10ins. x 5ins.).ILLUMINATION AND DECORATIONEight two-line in colours and highly burnished gold. Please be aware of the condition of this item. What you can see in the pictures is what the winning bidder will receive. This is a superb leaf in every respect with virtually no age related wear, on a very fine vellum, written by a very accomplished scribe and with first class illumination. It must have been a very expensive production because the two-line initials are of such high quality.
